PowerPoint Training Courses
Used correctly PowerPoint can be an excellent presentation tool. We have all seen those terrible presentation with 20 bullet points per slide that you can hardly read from where you are sitting. You have also seen presentations where the presenter reads verbatim everything on the slide - their presentations are designed more around being a prompt for their speech than being engaging and informative for the audience.
PowerPoint presentations need to be visual where at all possible and should embellish on what the presenter is saying rather than just be a copy or summary of their script. There are some great new tools in the new versions of PowerPoint - 2007 and 2010 that allow you easily add visual content to slides. SmartArt is one of those tools and something we explore in our training courses.
When presenting information on a slide we suggest that you use "builds" rather than all the content at once. Even if you are just using bullet points on a slide we reckon it's much better to introduce content slowly at the same pace as its being talked about. Using custom animations allows you to introduce each element of an Excel chart, a SmartArt graphic or each paragraph of text one at a time.
There are some really quick ways of creating consistent formatting across a presentation and once you know how things are supposed to be done you will find making these changes a breeze. Our course looks at Master Slides in some which will really help you with this aspect of PowerPoint.
We cover the old and new versions of PowerPoint. So if you are still using PowerPoint 2003 we can still provide the training. Obviously we can also cater for the newer versions - 2007 and 2010 as well. Together with the training on the day you will get a copy of our comprehensive training notes as well as post course support via email.
The course outline set out below is our suggestion as to what you might want to cover in a day. However, we are completely flexible in terms of what we cover and can tailor the course to your requirements - just let us know when you make the booking.
